The following groups have contributed content to the site and continue to work on the ground to improve our urban forests! Read their stories and follow the links to their websites to see how you too can contribute to the urban forest.

LEAF is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the protection and improvement of the urban forest. Since 1996, LEAF has actively engaged residents in urban forest stewardship through:

Planting - subsidized Backyard Tree Planting Program and hands on stewardship projects

Education - guided Tree Tours, Presentations and Workshops

Training - the Tree Tenders Volunteer Training Program designed to give individuals the tools to become engaged in urban forest issues in their communities

NeighbourWoods on the Grand is a branch of the Elora Environment Centre, a registered charity and one of the first Green Communities established in the province. We are working to rebuild the community tree canopy through tree planting, stewardship, public education and advocacy about the need for, and value of, trees. 

OFGAC is made up of volunteer citizens of Ottawa chosen through application to sit on the committee for 1-4 year terms.  The committee meets once a month at city hall and most work is done in between meetings by individual members and sub-committees.

Peterborough Green-Up is a not-for-profit, community-based organization whose mission is “to enhance environmental health in the Peterborough region by interpreting environmental concerns, facilitating positive action, and providing services recognized as valuable by the community.”

Peterborough Green-Up has been a major player on the environmental stage in Peterborough since 1991, and offers a wide variety of programs focused on energy, water, waste, greenspace, transportation, food and climate change.

ReForest London is a non-profit organization that engages individuals, groups and businesses in planting and caring for trees in neighbourhoods and natural areas throughout London.

The Mission of this diverse group is to facilitate the maintenance, restoration and enhancement of a healthy and sustainable forest canopy using good forestry practices in the Hamilton area by;

  • Encouraging partnerships
  • Education and Outreach
  • Conservation Planning from a Landscape level
