Education and Training

We brought together those that wanted to learn with a knowledgeable enthusiastic teacher.  We foraged, steeped and toasted, shared stories and left with a new appreciation of what is growing all around us. 

Here’s how it went…

A week prior to the event we had scoped the area out and found all the species to be harvested.  Some were harvested then to dry so that they’d be ready for the workshop.

Tours are guided walks that highlight trees of interest in a neighbourhood and incorporate history, culture and personal stories. The tours tell the narratives behind the many tree species found in our urban areas as well as the the people and places our urban forest sustains. Tree Tours are a large component of LEAF’s outreach, community engagement and education initiatives. The purpose of these tours is for participants to gain an appreciation for the urban forest and to become stewards of the trees found in their community.

The LEAF Learning Garden is a unique, hands-on outdoor learning environment that focuses on bringing out Toronto’s “best nature”. It does this by spotlighting the urgent need to create natural habitats in downtown Toronto.
